Most lists of IELTS Speaking Part 2 topics stop at the topics. Reading a cue card is the easy part; the hard part is talking for two minutes straight, with only one minute to plan. This page lets you do the long turn for real.

Pick a card, prepare for 60 seconds with a notes box, then speak while the recording runs to a hard stop at 2:00. Every card was written for Speakeroo, with the usual three prompts and a closing "explain" line, and none comes from a past paper or another site. Speakeroo is not affiliated with, approved by, or endorsed by IELTS or its owners.

This page is for Part 2 only. For the other parts, see [IELTS speaking practice](https://speakeroo.app/ielts-speaking-practice).

## How the timed Part 2 practice works

1. 1

   ### Pick a cue card

Choose any card below. You see the topic and its prompts, and nothing starts until you press the start button.
2. 2

   ### Prepare for one minute

A 60-second countdown begins. Write keywords in the notes box, not full sentences. If you are ready sooner you can skip to speaking.
3. 3

   ### Speak for up to two minutes

When the minute ends, recording starts on its own and stops at 2:00. Cover each prompt in turn and finish on the "explain" line.
4. 4

   ### Read your feedback by criterion

Submit your take and read the feedback under the four IELTS criteria: fluency and coherence, lexical resource, grammatical range and accuracy, and pronunciation.

## Questions

### What is IELTS Speaking Part 2?

Part 2 is the individual long turn of the IELTS Speaking test. The examiner gives you a cue card with a topic and a few prompts. You get one minute to prepare, then speak on your own for up to two minutes, and the examiner usually follows with a short question.

### How long do you get to prepare and speak in Part 2?

One minute to prepare and up to two minutes to speak. Practice here runs the same clock: a 60-second countdown, then recording starts by itself and stops at 2:00.

### Can I make notes before I speak?

Yes. In the test you can write notes while you prepare. Here there is a notes box for the minute, and it stays on screen while you talk. Keywords work better than sentences; you will not have time to read them out.

### Does Speakeroo give me an IELTS score?

No. Speakeroo does not give an IELTS score or estimate. After your take you see written feedback grouped under the four public criteria, so you know what to work on next: fluency and coherence, lexical resource, grammatical range and accuracy, and pronunciation.

### Are these the real IELTS Part 2 topics?

Every cue card on this page was written for Speakeroo. None is copied from a past paper, an exam report, or another site’s topic list. The cards follow the public format, so the topics are not the ones you will see in an exam.

### What should I do if I run out of things to say?

Try to keep going until the recording stops. Treat the prompts as a route: say a little about each, then spend the last stretch on the line that starts with "and explain". If you run out of things to say, give an example from your own life.
