# Presentation Topics

Presentation topics for class, work, PowerPoint nights, and five-minute talks, plus a four-step method for building a presentation and a rehearsal session for every topic.

The topic decides most of a presentation before you open the slide deck. A narrow, specific topic gives you a clear takeaway, three natural sections, and an ending that writes itself. A broad one leaves you with forty slides and no point.

Below are presentation topics for class, work, and fun, grouped by situation, with a short method for turning any of them into a five-minute talk. Every topic opens a rehearsal session in Speakeroo so you can practise the talk out loud and get feedback on structure and pacing.

## How to turn a topic into a presentation

1. 1

   ### Write the takeaway first

Write the one sentence you want the audience to repeat afterwards. Everything in the talk either supports that sentence or gets cut.
2. 2

   ### Pick three supporting points

Choose the three points that best support the takeaway. Give each a heading, one example, and one visual if you are using slides.
3. 3

   ### Match the opening to the close

Open with a question, a surprising fact, or a short story. Close by returning to the same image. Audiences remember the first and last thirty seconds.
4. 4

   ### Rehearse aloud, then cut

Say the talk out loud with a timer, twice. Cut anything you stumbled on both times. Speakeroo highlights where the pacing changed and where fillers crept in.

## Questions

### How do I choose a presentation topic?

A good presentation topic is specific, fits the time you have, and lets you say something the audience does not already know. "Social media" is a subject; "why I deleted one app and what changed" is a topic. Narrow it until you can state the main point in one sentence.

### When should I use a fun presentation topic?

Fun topics work when the audience is there to enjoy themselves: a PowerPoint night, a class icebreaker, a team social. They still need structure. The funniest talks have a clear claim, three examples, and a final line that lands.

### How long should each part of a presentation be?

Plan roughly one minute per slide and one main point per two or three slides. A five-minute presentation needs an opening, three points, and a close. Rehearse out loud at least twice; the first run is always thirty percent longer than you expect.

### How can I rehearse a presentation out loud?

Every topic on this page opens a recording session in Speakeroo. Talk through your presentation without slides, then review the feedback on structure, pacing, and filler words. Practising without slides shows you whether the talk stands on its own.
